Individual counselling is for anyone, regardless of age, who may be hurting, confused, frustrated, or feeling overwhelmed by personal problems. At Niagara Life Centre, counsellors can help with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, addictions, trauma, stress, eating disorders, and relational issues.

Through counselling, we explore areas of conflict within marriage relationships. Our counsellors help couples to identify problem areas and help individuals take responsibility for his or her personal contribution to the presenting issue. We also educate couples on communication styles and healthy conflict resolution.

Family counselling brings various members of the family together with a counsellor in a confidential session, helping each member understand the problem and how he or she can best contribute to the solution. Counselling the whole family or smaller units within the family can help bring healing in difficult family situations.

Niagara Life Centre continues to develop and add vital programs that help clients in a group setting. Check periodically on our website and Facebook page for new group programs. Past and current group programs have included classes addressing anxiety and depression, grief, addiction, parenting and pregnancy support, teen support, and healthy relationships.

We seek to educate the client on the consequences of the three options: abortion, adoption and parenting. We provide a non-judgmental environment and ongoing support no matter what decision the client chooses to make. For moms-to-be we offer individual and group programs.

A postvention is an intervention conducted after a suicide, largely taking the form of counselling for individuals within the bereaved circle of family and friends of the suicide victim.

Anger management teaches individuals how to identify the root causes of their anger and provides strategies that work toward resolving these issues. Techniques to control and cope with anger are taught so that individuals might be freed from the control that anger holds over their lives.

We offer individual and group counselling which addresses the challenges parents face while raising children of all ages. For mothers with babies and toddlers, and if there is enough interest, a Mom’s and Tot’s program is offered.

Child and Youth Counsellors work with children, teenagers and possibly the entire family who are experiencing social, emotional or behavioural stress in an individual or group setting. Many children benefit from the techniques of play therapy.

Niagara Life Centre offers support for those struggling with sexually compulsive behaviours, specifically pornography. Counsellors walk along side clients to see the impact on their relationships, identify triggers, and heal and maintain recovery through support.

Our pantry support program enhances the counselling work that NLC provides. Therefore, when counsellors identify needs and resources are available through our pantry support program, NLC provides food and various other basic necessities of life.

Niagara Life Centre will be implementing partial contribution payment by clients towards their counselling costs. The cost to the client will be kept at an affordable level with the greatest percentage continuing to be subsidized by Niagara Life Centre’s many faithful supporters. NLC will continue its commitment to serve ALL clients. If needed, arrangements for further subsidy will be made.

Counseling fees for Individuals and Couples
Our cost: $100.00 per 45 min session
Your subsidized fee:  $60.00 per 45 min session

Group Sessions
Our cost: $ 60.00
Your subsidized fee: $10.00 per session

**Participants are to pay for each session in the group regardless of missed sessions. Fees can be paid  per session or in full at the beginning of the group.

Charitable Receipts 
The fees we charge for individual and group sessions do not cover our cost. Donations over and above your session fees are appreciated and  will be tax receipted . Such receipts will be issued at the beginning of the new  year.
